It certainly seems like a mixed bag and I was surprised to read about Bali which I had always heard as a relaxing paradise but certainly doesn’t seem that way from your description or maybe everyone just sticks to their luxury hotels like you say
Safe travels and look forward to hearing more about your trip 👍🏼
Thanks, Dan. Bali can still be a relaxing paradise for sure, it all depends on your tolerance levels for all the things mentioned.
I talked to some people who will still recommend the Seminyak area because they love the crowds and bustle, and they don’t mind all the traffic etc. It’s not what I am looking for when vacationing, environmental issues aside.
Most people I spoke to, though, are aware of the pollution, even up north in the remote parts of Bali.
We had a more pleasant experience last October, though we stayed away from the beaches and went up the hills towards the far end of Ubud. We loved it, but we really did just focus on relaxing, doing yoga, having massages, eating lots, walking lots, and staying away from traffic madness and pollution. 🤣
October is a far better time than July/August in terms of crowds and avoiding the beaches was a good move, too. If it were just me I’d probably book something up north for two weeks like this…
Vermont is known for its scenic rolling mountains, quality skiing, organic locally produced food, and its open-minded culture. Known as the Green Mountain State, (Vermont translates to green mountain – ver mont- in French) Vermont provides an abundance of outdoor activities winter or summer.
Sounds good. Maybe my palate will be appeased at last.
I’ve been there last month and going again this week. It’s lovely and vast and people are so nice. You feel peace there and breathe easy. Lots of farmland and wilderness too.
I know a great cafe in Ubud but too late!
Which one? Maybe I’ve been there.

Bookmarked! Thanks. They sell on tokopedia. Maybe I’ll order.
Great photos and travelogue, Alexander 👍🏼

Veeeery nice!
All I learned about this trip is that you have a fancy palate. And you should go somewhere quiet and quaint, maybe Vermont, across the pond.
Vermont, eh?

Has the elusive search for the best coffee been solved yet??
Thanks, Nathan. I have narrowed the candidates and will soon reveal the winner. Best sushi, best steak, best coffee. Stay tuned!
Delightful… youve got me thinking about how i chronicle my own traveling…. Thank you. I look forward to future posts
Thanks, Paul! Glad you liked it. We’ll return to speculative fiction once I’m back in France.
Bandung! My second hometown after Jakarta. Can't wait too see what you make of it 😂
Thanks, Perry. It wasn’t my first time in Bandung. ;)
Quite the amount of man hours to keep these resorts clean! Bali seems like a strange one. Enjoying this travelogue, sir!
Safe travels
Thanks, Taegan! Back to France this weekend and then back to reading all the posts I have missed. Looking forward to yours!
Wow, sounds like a blast (with a little too much bass ;)
Good catch! Fixed ;) and yeah, it was more than a little 😅
