Great photos, Alexander. Sounds like a interesting adventure to say the least. Now, you might not have been perfectly prepared for the climb but still better than some folks up here in Scotland who go tromping up hills in shorts and flip flops from time time!
Also, that’s a great album. Haven’t listened to it in a while so will need to dig it out
Really enjoying these little snap shots of what seems a life well lived 👍🏼
You're just full of puns today! What remarkable sights you got to witness! I bet your host was the icing on the cake. Glad you survived your near-death experience. Do NOT have any more of those please!
Yep, opened Pundora’s Box, it’s too punny! ;) yeah, that host was something else and I am happy to report no ND experiences in a while. That one was nr. 5 or 6 no wait ... 7, I think...
A beautiful, evocative adventure, Alexander. Made me desperate to be back out on a mountain again. I too, have sat "... cold, soaked, and sniffling" and wearing the wrong clothes , specifically in Scotland. How I miss all those times! Thank you for reviving the memory. As for Wordsworth, I have always appreciated his line breaks - I used to think them random, but I know better now. And as for his inserting that one little word "DO" , it makes all the difference in the world. I believe he left nothing random. A lovely piece. ( Also, would you want to change it to "piece" of cake? Maybe not, I, myself, have often experienced the peace of cake... ha ha ha ) Thank you for a stimulating read this morning.
Thank you, Sharron, for taking the time to read and with an attentiveness that provides me with peace of mind! It will teach me not to wait until the 11th hour to type a wall of text in 10 minutes. Cake of Peace is fixed! 😅 And yes, I agree, nothing is left to chance in this masterful text of his.
Well, actually, I find my best editing always comes after the piece is posted. Thankfully, Substack lets us go back in and edit our posts after the fact. They must have seen me coming.
😂 Have at them! Funny anecdote, my old English teacher back during high school days would reward finding mistakes in the corrected tests he handed back by giving out stripes of Big Red chewing gum for every mistake found. It's OK to have typos, free gum!
What an adventure! Love the icy iron steps, but really happy I'm not climbing them ha. I've just started Outlandish - have you heard of it? From this post, I think you might enjoy it. The first part is about the Scottish Arctic.

Flip Flops??? 😂🤣 well, compared to that we were over equipped! Thanks, Daniel. Next time I come to Caledonia, I’ll bring my flip flops! 😁
More incredible photos — wow. These are great. My favorite, I have to say, is that ram.
Thanks, Matt! Yeah that ram was pretty amazing, lucky me, he was chill.

7?! Jebus!
7, 8, 80, who keeps count??

An inspired and inspiring teacher. Pavlov was right...
He certainly was one of the better teachers I had. Not everyone liked cinnamon-flavoured gum, though! Their loss.

Ok, ok I will read Dune.

Thanks, Kate. Outlandish, have not heard of it but as someone who is subscribed to https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/ I might indeed enjoy it.
Great story 😆, beautiful scenery. A lovely part of the world.
Thanks, Nathan. It was a memorable trip, travelling from South to North across Wales.
It's so good that you have all these photos still. Great memories with great photos.
Yeah, I have a lot more negatives, which need scanning ... one day :)
