"“You’ve unleashed the Talha Ka Ran. The Great Nothing, devouring everything.” “We, uh, didn’t mean to?” said Thorne.

"I shall enjoy killing you – again.” “Yeah, you’re welcome to try…Tentacleman,” Thorne spat.

Ha ha ha! I loved this story, Ipfelkofer. Even in my mega, psilocybin-induced dreams in 1969, I never conjured up such bizarre scenes. Who IS that woman in the sand? I'll be waiting to find out.

Thanks, Sharron. You've made it to the end of this wild, trippy ride. So glad to hear you've enjoyed it.

That woman in the sand, suffice to say, she got kicked out of the pyramid by Bellatrix and thus did not disappear with it.

And thus it ends... [credits...] for now!!

What an action-packed conclusion, Alexander! You did.

Especially loved the part with Taweret, even more so with having seen the opening bit of artwork to set a scene in my head.

"Thorne stood at the bow of a barque, gliding through a dark ocean of sand." -- such a sparse line, but it's rich and vivid.

You also managed to pull in the trademark Carter humour in places too, despite everything that was going on. <3 Bellatrix!

I think I now need to go back and reread it all, to let some of the finer details solidify and with having the arc in my head so some of the things that speak of what's to come can be appreciated given I now know what comes!

Congrats on concluding things. No small feat.

He pressed a button into her hand and whispered something into her ear. -- what did he say?!

Beaumont’s tendrils, like lances, shot forward, piercing Adrian’s chest and lifting him into the air. He howled, then fell silent. Eyes black, he turned to Jackie. -- You do action really well. Tight. (Something I am no good at/never write!)

Thanks, Nathan. And to think this all came from a little seed, all I had was the sequence in the chamber where Samuel first dies, poisoning himself. Just a little action sequence.

I did want to do a story in the vein of Indy, The Mummy, Stargate and such and well, I guess I did!

And thank you for going on this journey with me. It's been months! Total word count for Carter thus far 29k, reading time approx 2hrs. I'll let it simmer a bit and then put it all together in one ebook, edit some more and start the process of publishing a physical book.

The afterlife scene. It joys me to hear you liked it. Again, one that I contemplated cutting, or rephrase in one or two lines to free more space for the ending without running too long. Word economy I think is still something everyone must consider when writing, even if there is no word limit, there most certainly always is.

Action and dialogue is what I enjoy, I guess. I do like descriptive, more lyrical prose, too and always feel I should do more of it. Although, too descriptive a prose puts me to sleep fast.

So here's the deal. My next Flash Fiction will be all descriptive. Yours shall have action galore? 😅

Haha, I'm happy to try that!

A very impressive amount of words.

You definitely captured the feel of Indy, The Mummy etc. Very much so!

Thanks, Nathan. Now let’s see how many of those words survive another round of editing…

So good, Alexander! So epic! In fact, I think you were born to write epic fiction or you've been working up to it. I can see this idea working of Carter coming back. You've got strands of Antony & Cleopatra, Indiana Jones, and something more from the metaverse coming at us. It's really fun to read and really mysterious.

Thanks, Kate! Your comment gave me goosebumps. Just like the scene in Cleopatra where Octavian delivers his eulogy for Marc Antony. (https://youtu.be/CarU7kkS5k8?si=OjBZxBDQjIKU_pNy) I have that clip saved.

So glad you enjoyed it. Working on the book version for a Q4 print release.

Perfect balance of exciting adventure, tense suspense, and snappy dialogue! I do feel sad for the professor, and I long for more. I do agree, this chapter especially felt very Marvelesque. Maybe a team Deadpool haphazardly or ironically assembled.

Deadpool! I'll need to add more 4th wall breaks ;) Glad you found it entertaining and, yes, sadness was had, but also pretzels. It certainly won't be the last we hear from Doctor Carter!

Brilliantly done, Alexander. Bravo 👏

A fantastic action packed conclusion to an epic story. Loved it 👍🏼

As Nathan mentioned above, you write the action scenes so well that they just flow across the page. However, you also take the time to pause in the heat of battle and give moments of character interaction or tragedy, like in the case of the professor, which gives the action more heft and meaning

Really excellent. Plus, we need a spin off story with Bellatrix as well as the next instalment for Carter as soon as possible, please 🙏 😁

Thanks, Dan. Much appreciate you taking the time and coming along this ride. Happy to hear the ending did not disappoint. I always wanted Sam back on the couch in the end, so there's that. Stuff happened and he'll never be same. And Bellatrix, yeah, she's a character I had not planned for, she ambushed me, typical Bellatrix, eh?

I will be editing these three parts into a physical book and then see, when and where Carter will appear next. He's not done, that much is certain.
