That’s so funny. The minute that I saw the first photo, I thought it looked like the back of a sleeping dragon. Clearly, the title primed my thoughts but, it’s a bit like the hills in Scotland, when I look at them now, all I see are sleeping giants as my dad told me that’s what they were so many times
Both pictures look fantastic and the festival sounds good fun too!
Magnum are an interesting one. I’m sure I’ve heard of them as they’re my kind of music from that time, but I don’t remember any of their tunes. Got some catching up to do 🎵
Jedi Mind tricks ;) Thanks, Daniel. Yes, indeed, the "sleeping giants" analogy is also good. I haven't listened to Magnum in ages, don't have the vinyl anymore, or any vinyl for that matter, lost along with all my books when we moved countries. I love the Storyteller's Night album, hope you'll enjoy it!
Wow, so good. Didn't know that about the festival in Germany.
I'd also:
1) never heard of blue hour. Golden hour, yes, but I didn't realise there was a term for when after the sun has set. Lovely.
2) never heard of Magnum the band, only the ice cream and PI show 😅 (never watched the latter, but eaten my fair share of the former!!) I'll be taking a listen to some more, thanks.
Love these posts Alexander. The stories and info are great.
That’s interesting about China trying to buy the dragon. Someone told me that Hallstatt has been recreated in China as well and have made it into a kind of Epcot-themed amusement park.
I'd like to be there to see that! It seem very like the yearly celebration on Shetland when they dress like Vikings and set a boat on fire! Great fun. If only I were younger. Thanks for taking us there and for the lovely serene photos, Alexander
Thanks, Sharron! There are some YouTube videos but that's not the same of course. The whole town becomes a stage, the whole town square cobblestones are covered with sand (for the horses) and for two weeks you're back in the Middle Ages, so to speak. The Shetland Viking celebration sounds fantastic, too! I haven't seen it.
This looks like great fun, Alexander, right up my alley! (I was expecting more blood, but that's OK.) As always with these festivals, the people playing dress up are having even more fun than the tourists, so it's a win-win. But the real star of this post, I think, is your Blue Hour photo - seriously, it's wonderful! You're the Georgia O'Keefe of Bavaria with a camera.

Another great article. Thanks very much Alexander

Der ist ein große Drachen!
Der größte! I think they got into the Guinness Book of World Records for that one.
Wow - such breathtaking photographs! I cannot stop looking at them and being in awe!
Thank you, Nadia. Happy you like them! There's more in the Chat for Subscribers. Bonus Photos. I guess, I should mention that in the post next time. 😅
OoooOoooOooo!
Keep the photography and associated stories coming! I love the new info for my travel wishlist.
Thanks, David! Glad you find them interesting. I might do some abstract or minimalist photos from time to time, more of a travel for the mind then!

Thanks, Nathan. Yep, Blue Hour is fantastic, and so is Golden Hour. Borobudur Sunrise is a Golden Hour shot.

I didn't know about Hallstatt, amazing... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hallstatt_(China)

Thanks, Troy. Back in my days, we had more blood, that's all I'm saying about that! 😅
Ahh, Georgia O'Keefe and George Lake. Beautiful painting. I know the name but am not too familiar with her work. Something to remedy!
That's a beautiful blue Dragonlake! Thanks for the turn on to Magnum. They are good! I think of a Taurus Judge Magnum. : )
Thanks, James! There's an association I haven't thought of. Glad you like the band!
