That photo looks like you've timetravelled. Exquisitely shot. 👏
Hadn't heard of a drabble or dribble! I think it's too early for any dribble writing to come out yet, though perhaps there was some dribble whilst I was fast asleep 🤷♂️😂
Unfortunately, that video comes up as Not Available for me. Might be region locked. I'll search for a version instead.
Thanks, Nathan. Weird about the YT since it’s his official channel. There are a couple of results in YT re: Effigy track. You dribble in your sleep! 😅 write it down quick!
Thanks, Kathleen! If I google those keywords... Nov 16, 2023. 19h Ballet in Prague based on his play, tickets 12€, cheaper than the coffee at the Tramvaj! 😅
An incredibly evocative photo! And your story touched me just right this morning. I would like to meet this waiter who drank her coffee and wished her a nice day. Beautiful. Thanks for the opportunity - here is my 50-word photo story:
She’s elderly, yes, and a little confused. Her son hasn’t called in a long while, she doesn’t know why. She misses him, hopes he is all right. Placing her shopping bag on the floor, she sits down for tea, and wonders aloud, “Is this the tram to Chestnut Street?”
Yo! Having read your piece while visiting Prague, I kept my eyes peeled and actually took a (much less artistic) photo of those same streetcars to share with you! Now I just have to figure out how to upload it to the comments if possible...
Hi Lucy! That's cool! Thanks so much for reading. Sadly comments don't allow images but you can reply to any of the newsletters and send the image that way if you like. Did you go in to have a coffee? Or: Maybe if you quote/restack this post on Notes you can add your version to your note. I think that would work, too.
Another great photo, Alexander. I’m always fascinated with the incidental characters that don’t even know they’re in the picture. Like that guy all in black on the right hand side of the streetcar with what seems to be one glowing eye 🤔
Don’t drink coffee but always loved the smell of it so 🤷♂️. Lesson learned I guess is never judge something by its cost as, either way, that shouldn’t be the judge of its quality ☕️
That guy is creepy! Predator style, or maybe I have a "They Live" kind of camera... 😅
Thanks, Daniel. Much appreciate the comment and observation! I might share more of my street scenes in future editions. So, you're in camp tea then? I'm in both depending on what project I am writing on. I never drank more tea than when writing Carter.
Thanks, David! I wanted to give it a nostalgic look, it is an often photographed motif and stock websites have images of it aplenty in colour. I felt it would look better in black and white with a touch of sepia and subtle vignetting, processed in Lightroom. Ah and coffee, yes, I, too, remember it well. I even brought two packets of beans back with me and even though they were sealed, the whole suitcase and clothes smelled of coffee beans when we unpacked.
And now she'll never know... :)
I'd heard of a drabble but never a dribble! Coffee features centrally in my short story posting later today.
Indeed up to her dying days, she will wonder... ohhh, more coffee, you say? What coincidence!

Love this series, Alexander! Keep it up.

😅✍
Coffee + Prague + A Streetcar Named Desire...now that’s a good recipe for a post. It’s a fun game I like to play; how do these things fit together?
There’s something really magical about a streetcar, so slow and fixed to the road.

YES to all of this. Photo is amazing. And that album Noble Beast is such a great one.
Thanks, Matt! Glad you like the photo and yes, the album is grand! I like Andrew Bird. His YT channel is great, too.

Ahhh wonderful little dribble/minisaga, Sharron! Thanks for sharing and thanks for taking the time. Have a great weekend!

Well now I want coffee in a crammed place! That's a cool capture.

They Live! Another underrated Carpenter masterpiece
I used to drink tea by the gallon but not so much these days. A cup in the morning to wake up and that’s about all the caffeine I can handle now 😁
https://youtu.be/Wp_K8prLfso?si=SnKNWgqRoPUUg10S 😎 one of my all time favorite movies.
The photography is excellent (as usual). It feels like something out of the 1950s.
The best coffee I’ve had was a small cafe in Toronto. I still dream about that cup.

Thanks, Nadia! I sometimes miss the Kaffeehaus-style cafes in Vienna.
