"Her knee connected to the parts that pushed his yelp an octave higher,"

Best line, hehe.

Very interesting developments. Clever stuff. So if Throne is out, does that now mean Jackie (great to know what happened there with her, btw) is out too and off with Samuel somewhere? Or do they remain trapped? I assume no, given what Thorne said after the scene break.

The scene break, yes. "One year later..."

What happens after the Schnitzel is coming next week. Big reveal. Thorne is taking care of the aftermath from "The Deal," which is connected to what the others are doing somewhere else. What that is, we will find out in the next chapter.

Yeah. Just so Bellatrix can materialize in there somewhere.

Theo is hysterical. Now we know where the daughter gets her charm. BTW, I was imagining Bruce Campbell's voice, reading Theo's dialogue. He so sounds like Ash from Evil Dead XD.

Bruce! Love that guy. He was great in Burn Notice, too!

"Your brain’s so far down south, I’m surprised you can walk upright.” Genius insult!

Thanks for reading, David! Glad you liked it. Ah, yes that line, words as sharp as her blades, that Bellatrix. How will this end for the two Thornes?

"Touch me and die!" Why is that so hilarious to me , Alexander? Must be my latent, pent up inner hostility... Bellatrix may be the best character you have ever written.

"You and me? Did we...?” “Gross! You’re my Dad, you dickhead!” Ha Ha Ha!

Glad you enjoyed it, Sharron! And what can I say? Bellatrix is one wickedly sharp-tongued lady, who’s working through some stuff at the moment.

So many great settings! The beach…it draws us in right away…Cairo! I haven’t been, only to the Red Sea resort area. Recently there was a photographer from Cairo highlighted in the NYT with some amazing scenes. Have you been?

I love all the consciousness thoughts and though sci-fi, makes me think about where our minds can go even if not in a pod. Have your read Egan’s latest featuring pods as well?

Enjoying this story, Alexander.

Thanks, Kate. I have been to Egypt (see last post) but not to Cairo. Need to go one day. I have not read Egan, you have a link per chance? Glad you're enjoying the tribulations of Carter. Big reveal next week!

Ahhh, The Candy House! Sounds interesting. It's good?

And yes, Cairo is something else for sure, have to go there sometime soon.

It’s good. Definitely.

Not as good as Goon Squad but interesting ethical questions.
