I LOVE Bellatrix! "Her catlike movement and agility exuded confidence, as did the two small, curved blades in her hands." (Now THAT'S confidence!
“I know he’s a piece of trash, and I know I’m going to cut his balls off when I find him.” “That’s a tad excessive,” said Samuel, tucking down his dress. " ( ha ha ha! )
“Yeah, keep up, Polkadot.” “The dress isn’t mine.” ( Hilarious. I want the movie of this.)
The phrase: "argent light". Perfect.! An exciting story, Ipfelkofer! So clever.
Bellatrix is hilarious! Should have a stand up routine called Trix R Not 4 Kids. Superb and dynamic dialogue between the triolet. A paragraph that stood out to me the most: “His mind conjured up images of his journey…” Very vivid!
Love the dialogue and characters as usual with Bellatrix really shining with some great one liners 😁
Also thought this paragraph near the start was outstanding :-
“His pulse suddenly throbbed in concert with the sound of inevitability, of life's finality, a surreptitious serenity, salvation and damnation, a siren's song, enticing men since the dawn of time. Power. Primal and absolute.”
Absolute banger of an episode. I'm going to say it's hands down my favourite. Snappy, snappy dialogue. Immediate character from Bellatrix (she reminds me of Sanderson's Lift in his Stormlight Archive), great pace and action, the momentum keeps moving at a cracking pace 👏👏👏
Thanks, Nathan. Glad you enjoyed it. I have to check out Sanderson at some point, I am aware of the title but have not read any of his books. I saw his last kickstarter, which was rather successful.
I used to laud him, and I still think the first two books in the series are top notch, but the last volume of the Archive lowered from the pedestal. Massively in need of an editor. He's still worth reading (and he has a rabid fanbase), but I've certainly been put off somewhat.
Having said that, Lift (and her story) is superbly written.
Bellatrix, how appropriately named!
I thought so too! Could have named her... Emily or Nikita. But no.
Bellatrix Thorne for all your cutting needs.

Glad you enjoyed the little adventure romp. Tune in next time, when Thorne meets Thorne. Snip snip. 😅

Thanks, Nadia. Glad you liked Trix! Ah yes, the flashback, a jumble of images. Great to know it worked for you.
Enjoying this so much! Great dialogue as always and then you have added depth with the meta text: power, absurdity, history…
Really good, Alexander.
Thanks, Kate! Glad the dialogue worked (makes note for screenplay). The absurdity of power throughout history. Sounds like a title for an essay. 😅
Or a book! 🙃
Oh my... another project! 😅
This is a great new chapter, Alexander 👍🏼

Brilliantly done 👏
Thanks, Dan. Glad you enjoyed it! I have no idea what Bellatrix will do next... 😅

Only five chapters left!

I haven't read any Fantasy in a while. Will see where I can squeeze in a little Lift!
(Unless you count Dune 😂)
