Maybe I'm absolutely consumed by the new Alan Wake game, but I see parallels. In the game, there is an overlap, a between of sorts like here. Also time loops, it's like playing catch and catch-up, being at the same time one step ahead and one step behind. So I thought that was very cool you incorporated an in-between realm and some time traveling (or how that realm works). I'm excited to know what happens next!
I have to take your word for it! I haven't played the old or new one. Glad it speaks to you, Nadia, and we won't have to wait long to find out what happens next! Wednesday!
You mean last Wednesday that is yet to come? You're creating a rich universe over here! Alan Wake games are incredible. The second one is absolutely wild. All Remedy games are wonderful, actually.
I highly recommend saving on PS5! The game plays stable (there were a few stutters, which I'm sure they'll fix if they haven't already) and you can enjoy the high-quality graphics. It's a scary game but not overwhelming. I'm a wuss too with heart issues. If I survived, you'll survive! lol
Will it be like Blizzard soon? ;P Highly recommend playing that and of course Returnal, Death Stranding, The Last of Us. You'll be sucked in for sure. Yes, I do, but you should see it takes me many minutes to move from more spot to another because I'm such a scaredy cat! XD
Just as Nathan said, I love that this story has no boundaries. It’s like a wild dream brought to life in words
Also this paragraph surely means there’s endless possibilities for spin offs :-
“For years, the three chased Evil across space and time, always eluding them, always one step ahead, locked in a forever stalemate, leaving a gruesome trail of blood and misery” 😁
"Outside, the storm raged, heavy rain drummed on stoic rocks, and the wind howled, carrying with it the desperate bleats of a goat trapped somewhere on the steep ridges along the mountainside beneath."
You want more trapped goats? 😅 but yes, it is a vivid image, a similar one I witnessed while walking through the morning mist along the cliffs near the Old Man of Stoer, the bleating was a good indicator which side the cliffs were on... poor thing was trapped down there, no way up or down and was still bleating on our way back to the lighthouse.
Ahhh, OK! Looking forward to it! Still, time to dive into all the stacks this weekend now that I have finished those 50 slides to go through in 6 hours. I know, I know... but the whole history of literature and narrative devices in one day? There's got to be some slides! ;)
Well, this is getting more entertaining with all the Japanese elements! Even reminds me of Neal Stevenson's Snow Crash. And Seresuto's "baka gaijin" is spot on.
There are some errors though...
"Yokomastu" - this name doesn't exist in Japanese, it's either Yokomatsu or Yokomasu.
“Mata!” she shouted. - is this supposed to mean "again"? If so, it would be "mōichidō!"
Aaah, a typo found! Excellent, Vanessa. Indeed, it should be Yokomatsu! Thanks so much for the corrections. Yes, she commands "Again!" meaning "Repeat!" like in a dojo.
This reads like an old Japanese ghost story -- and I mean that in a really good way!! "lost the Self" - that whole sequence really did it for me. I enjoy the not-knowing labyrinth of the mind you've created here.
Thanks, Kate! I was a bit hestitant to put much Japanese, it seems to work though, not too jarring then. 😅 As for not knowing, same goes for me! No clue what will happen next. I know how it ends, though.

All Wednesdays! Well, next one, and then it's time to continue TMWWD! ;)
I WANT TO PLAY BUT MY PC WON'T COPE! I need a PS5...
What are the fear levels like in it? I'm hoping I'd be able to be enough of a non-wuss to enjoy what looks to be an incredible story and game.

You're not a wuss, you play all the scary games 😉😊
Cool. Well, a friend might be lending me his PS5 at some point, so maybe it'll be "soon".

Hahaha, hopefully not a Blizzard Soon^TM.
I don't know what you mean... soon maroon... >|-)
XD

Oh yes, definitely a few seasons worth of hunting and vanquishing. Supernatural style. We’ll see. Glad you enjoy it!
I continue to be impressed by the wild turns and twists of this tale, especially when thinking back to that very first entry!
*Is he dead*? I had the same thoughts.
Also, more of this please:
Yes, indeed, the Between seems to follow no rules at all at least none we know of... do they even age? Who knows what happens next!
Do you have a defined number of entries left in mind? Or is it just a case of see when it wants to be concluded?
For now, the next one will be the last one for this year. NOV/DEC is TMWWD and Carter Part 2.
Ah, excellent. More Carter 😁
Indeed! And then I’ll cross over between all stories 😅

Poor thing. Perhaps said Old Man could be a suitable Foto ...?
I was contemplating that for FF01, actually. They are all old photo scans from the same trip in 98.
You both with the pathetic fallacy again...
I've given you both a shout out on it in my podcast on such subject.
Those poor goats!!!
Shoutout!! I shall dive into that this weekend. Just wrapped up the course prep for Tuesday.
Shoutout is in a few weeks still. Hope the course was a fun one to prep 😁

Hahaha I love using slides to teach. Naturally I end up going on lots of tangents 😅
No stress. Enjoy your weekend! Sounds like you need a break ☺️
Aw yay. Thank you! Looking forward to hearing about it 😊

Oto-san should be Otō-san.

Great writing
Thanks George! The photo was taken with a Canon EOS 50D years ago, digital... 😅
I should have mentioned, fantastic. You must have been waiting a good while for that!
Yeah, it was a massive storm and the biggest bolts always happened off camera of course, got lucky with this one at least.
