Book One, Part Two, Chapter 21
Following the tempest, a somber expanse of wounded soldiers emerges. Tushin offers Nikolai a ride atop one of the cannons. Prince Bagration calls upon Tushin to inquire about the deserted artillery. Zherkov and fellow officers fabricate accounts of their actions and observations from that day. Andrei commends Tushin, yet he harbors a melancholic sentiment: "It all unfolded so peculiarly, diverging greatly from his expectations." Nikolai, too, ponders why he has come to this place.

About the French and German: All French and German parts are kept and read in French and German to fully retain the "original" experience. This edition (Maude) includes translations in English on the same page, which are not part of the audio.
I’m using the Oxford World’s Classics edition (translated by Louise and Aylmer Maude, edited by Amy Mandelker).
